Zero alcohol Wine alternative
Create your own unique complex zero alcohol drinks. .
In the search for a healthy lifestyle a lot of people are choosing alcohol free drinks. You can pay a fortune for pre-mixed and blended “wine alternatives” or you can use your imagination and create unique and distinctive drinks using our vinegars.
These vinegar drinks are often known as “shrubs” with various ideas as to how best to prepare and mix.
Your imagination is the only limit as to what you might create. We offer a deliciously simple option, and an option that you can adapt to your own creativity and ideas.
Cranberry Shrub
A very simple rosé alternative.
You will need spring water or rain water (sparkling or still), some low calorie cranberry juice, and a bottle of our cider apple vinegar.
In a 375 ml glass a quarter filled with ice place 20 ml of vinegar.
Top up with your choice of water to around 2/3 full.
Add the cranberry juice to around 4/5 full.
That’s it - we told you it was simple! Substitute any non-citrus juice for alternative colours and tastes.
Mocktail Shrubs - a little more time and effort
Many shrub recipes need macerated fruit (sugar syrups) to counter the bitterness of the commercial cider apple vinegars.
Our apple cider vinegar isn’t bitter, so it does not need that sweetness, so it delivers a far more natural and balanced taste.
Begin by choosing your fruit - we love mango, peach and melon.
Place 300 ml of vinegar and 500 g of diced fruit in a bowl and blend to a pulp. (Use hand blender).
Place in fridge to marinate 24 hours. Cooling the vinegar will limit the mother’s growth, so no need to worry about any added slime. (You can marinate for up to 48 hours, but we have found that we can’t wait that long and we always use after a day!)
Strain the fruit through a fine sieve, pushing through to get the most juice possible.
Dilute the vinegar / fruit mix with still or sparkling water to taste. (We find about 5 to 1 works well)
If you love your alcohol cocktails then the vinegar mixes are great to create your own “signature” cocktail
